Nintendo Officially Announced “Nintendo Switch 2” to be Released in 2025 as Successor to Current Switch
On January 16 (PST), Nintendo officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the Nintendo Switch; it was also announced that it would be released within 2025 and that a Nintendo Direct about the device would be broadcast on April 2.
The newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 looks similar to the current Switch at first glance, but the Joy-Con connection method and the design of the dock have been changed.
It is unusual for Nintendo to use a numbering system such as PlayStation 2~5 for the successor of its game consoles. By carrying on the branding of the current Switch, which has achieved unprecedented success, Nintendo may be aiming for solid success as the successor.
Various leaks have been circulating about the Nintendo Switch 2, and there was some uncertainty that Nintendo would make an official announcement on January 16, along with responses to these leaks.
