Closed VTuber Agency NEXAS’s CEO Releases After-Action
forCreators Pte. Ltd’s CEO “Harry," the management company of VTuber agency NEXAS that closed on January 31, released an after-action explaining the reasons for the agency’s operation.
NEXAS is an English-speaking VTuber agency whose launch was announced on February 22, 2024 by forCreators Pte. Ltd. The company advocated “Academia" to nurture the next generation of virtual talents and envisioned 100~1000 debuts in the future, but closed down less than a year after its launch due to controversy over its method of simultaneously debuting a large number of new talents on the emerging streaming app “AniLive".
The main contents of the after-action revealed by Harry are as follows.
- The goals at NEXAS are to “make cash," expand the “business network," and “move on to the next business."
- He argues that traditional agencies are not viable because they cost too much for the people who operate them.
- He laments that in order to expand his business, he increased costs by adding more staff that could operate in the same time zone as the talent. He states, “In hindsight, I should have stuck with this."
- I had done little research on the stream culture of the market I was trying to enter. I was caught off guard by the different “tipping culture" and anti-AI sentiment of English-speaking viewers.
